What you get on a self-drive dune buggy experience

You drive, you don’t ride along. Each Desert Fox buggy is fully automatic with a full roll cage, bucket seats, and safety harnesses, so the focus stays on the dunes, not the controls. The route runs through Mleiha National Park with stops at Fossil Rock and Camel Rock, time for sandboarding, and a guide leading every group across the terrain.

Allow approximately two hours onsite. The 90-minute guided route includes about 60 minutes of driving, 15 minutes at Camel Rock for sandboarding and 15 minutes at Fossil Rock. A briefing and nature walk complete the visit. With Dubai or Sharjah return transfers, allow approximately four hours depending on traffic.

Built for beginners

No experience needed and no driving licence required to drive in the desert. Every session starts with a safety briefing, the buggies are automatic, and a guide sets the pace and route. First-timers follow the same guide-led format as returning guests. Drivers aged 16 to 17 require parental guidance. Guests aged 18 or older may drive independently. Government-issued ID is required. Passengers must be at least 100 cm tall.

Safety and the Desert Fox buggy

The Desert Fox is purpose-built for Mleiha’s terrain: roll cage, harnesses, bucket seats, and automatic transmission. Guides lead in a managed convoy, brief every driver beforehand, and stay with the group throughout. Helmets and safety gear are provided.
